DIY 80s Leotard Inspired Leopard Print Planters

There are so many ways to paint a planter, I have done everything from ombre to gradient to splatter painted. But these color blocked DIY 80s leotard inspired leopard print planters are quite possible my new favorites! I mean what is not to love about leopard print, neons, and gold? Hahaha!

It’s an amalgam of 80’s fabulousness!

Materials to make your own DIY 80s Leotard Inspired Leopard Print Planters:

-Planter

-Acrylic Paint

– Paint brushes

Black sharpie paint pen

Gold foil tattoo paper

DIY 80s Leotard Inspired Leopard Print Planters

Begin by painting your planter with the acrylic craft paint in a color block effect. The top one color and the bottom another. Once the paint is dry, use the black paint pen to draw on the leopard pattern.

You might think that a leopard pattern is too complicated to draw, but if you look at the print closely you can see that it is just a combo of small and large c’s and oblong dots. Practice on a scrap piece of paper first, but I promise it isn’t too difficult to recreate.

Once you have your pattern, cut a piece of the tattoo paper that fits around the planter and is appx. 1/4″ to 1/2″ wide. Peel away the plastic backing and adhere the strip to the planter. Then use a wet paper towl to soak the paper backing and slowly peel away the paper to reveal the gold banding.

Now repeat until you have a whole gaggle of leopard print beauties to fill with your favorite plants.
