I guess it shouldn’t suprise me, but you all loved the painted nutcracker ornaments I had for sale in the shop this year. So much so that I sold out of all of them over a week ago. When I found these large wood nutcrackers at JOANN, I just knew I had to give them a colorful makeover and share them with you. While you may not be able to get your hands on the mini versions, you can make your own DIY gradient nutcracker Christmas decorations to adorn your shelves or mantel.
Materials to make your own DIY Gradient Nutcracker Christmas Decorations:
- Montana Gold Spray paint in 3 colors (I used malachite, frozen strawberry, and lychee for nutcracker 1. Strawberry, pink pink, and bazooka joe for nutcracker 2. And pink pink, shrimp pastel, and yolk for nutcracker 3.)
- Wood nutcrackers (these can really be any size), these particular ones are from JOANN stores, but here is a smaller Amazon option.
So the process is really just as simple as starting at the top and spray painting the nutcrackers in bands of color, letting the color overlap slightly to gift you the blended gradient look. Be sure to lift the nutcracker lever and spray paint under there and don’t forget to get all the nooks and crevices sprayed. Once the paint is dry, they are ready to display. Or if you are feeling extra fun, give them a coat of spray glitter for extra shine!
