How to Paint a Terrazzo Confetti Accent Wall

Kara Whitten

I shared this terrazzo accent wall in my studio bathroom back in January on Instagram, but realized that I never wrote up the tutorial. So here I am to share how to paint a terrazzo confetti accent wall with left over paint or paint samples.

Doesn’t it look just like wallpaper? Funny enough I get asked all the time where I got this wall paper, but it was just a simple project that used cheap foam brushes, leftover paint, and about an hour of my time.

A little before of the space. Just a dramatic change and so much warmth with just the addition of paint, a wood vanity makeover, and a few accessories!

I began by practicing on a scrap piece of paper and figuring out my color scheme and brush technique. Then I got to work on the actual wall.

The biggest trick is to gently dip your paint brush in the paint, then press it onto the wall to create geometric terrazzo shapes. Try pressing the brush to the wall at an angle and just on the corner too. All the different angles! It’s the angles that make the unique terrazzo confetti shapes.

I covered the wall with the first color, then came back with the other colors and worked one at a time spreading out the terrazzo confetti flecks of paint. After the initial paint was dry I cam back with a few colors to create a few overlapped terrazzo confetti flecks.

And that was it!

The wall was done! So simple, and so quick!

Now how’s that for a quick, pretty, and inexpensive project you can tackle while home during this pandemic?
