DIY Christmas Candles

Kara Whitten

Add that Christmas glow to your dining table or mantel with my DIY Christmas candles! This is such a fun one—definitely pairs well with wine and friends for a holiday crafting night! I used colorful wax sheets and teeny clay cutters to make the cutesy little shapes. Then they just stick right on to your taper candles of choice. The result is so cute you won’t want to burn them (but you should!). Head over here to check out the full DIY video!

You could also use small scissors to create your own custom shapes if you’ve got a steady hand. Come along as we make these mini masterpieces together.

Supplies:

Instructions:

Step 1: For the Christmas lights candle, I started with a dark green taper candle. Then I rolled out some gold wax into a small cylinder shape, then pressed it into the candle in a spiral. This is the “wire” connecting your lights.

Step 2: Next, I used several colors of wax and cut out lightbulb shapes with the clay cutter. I then stuck these onto the “wire” all the way around the candle.

Step 3: Then I cut out small rectangles of gold wax to use as the connectors for the lightbulbs, placing them on top of each lightbulb on the candle.

Step 4: Finally, I added some yellow stars at the top to embellish the candle. For your other candles, use whichever shapes speak to you! I used ribbons, stars, and gingerbread men and repeated the same method as above.
